About
In 1977, Gary Savage graduated from California State University Long Beach with a BA in Industrial Arts. He specialized in drafting and woodworking, and immediately following his return to Louisiana, began working with his father "Tinker" Savage. Tinker was a life long builder, and built homes for Standard Enterprises.
Gary doesn't just draw house plans - he knows how to build houses. In fact, he learned everything he knows about house building because he grew up in a family of builders. He began drawing his first house plans while working in the plan department of Standard Enterprises, the company where his father had once worked. After two years of working for Standard, the company switched gears, and branched into apartment management. Gary took this change of course in stride, and immediately struck out on his own. He founded The Plan Shoppe, Ltd., and began designing homes for individuals and contractors all over northeast Louisiana.
Over the years, Gary has additionally built homes for himself and others. With each new home, he endeavored to learn different aspects of the trade during construction. This helped exponentially in his quest to increase his understanding of economical design without sacrificing aesthetics.
Gary has been designing houses for more than 45 years, and has designed over 5,000 houses to date. No matter where you are in the Monroe/West Monroe, or surrounding area, chances are, you're near a home designed by Gary.
